The atmosphere at work is a key determinant in the productivity and efficiency of employees. Employee morale is one of the keys to business success. It is therefore important to establish a good synergy among employees, creating a win-win situation. These days the term "Team Building" is prevalent and a necessity for fostering a good working environment. This concept is becoming increasingly popular in many organizations, large or small, with the aim being to devise fun activities to create a bond between the participants and to combine pleasure with professional learning.

Team building activities can take the form of ‘events’, designed to stimulate and strengthen relationships and to help employees to grow professionally. These activities can include: get togethers or barbecues, softball games or any outside activities which are away from the work premises. In fact, the simple act of being outside the work environment helps to solidify links between team members.

Team building aims to enhance creativity and leadership development through games, quizzes or tests. In other words, activities that lead to the development of better working techniques in a fun and stimulating environment that lead to better synergy. Individually, each employee can be easily integrated and find their place within the group.

There are firms which specialise in "Team Building" activities and work to foster relationships in the company to guide a team to work together generating more concrete and original ideas. They give business owners a helping hand to rally the troops, build morale and help to retain the best employees within organisations. Team building events strengthens cohesion and trust among employees. Adherence to the corporate culture and improving collective decision making are just two of the effects that could justify the implementation of team building exercises.

Team building can help keep employees on track and work together towards a common goal. Team members can get to know each other, strengthening ties and promoting mutual cooperation within the company.

In general, team building activities are designed and implemented in a fun way, but it is also important that activities are in line with the company's image. Team building can serve as a method of energising a team and taking them out of their comfort zones.
